What is a Web Ring?

A web ring is a collection of web pages and sites that are linked together by common interest. In an ever-growing world wide web it makes browsing for specific information much simpler than trying to search on a search engine. Do you ever get tired of tons of junk that has absolutely nothing to do with what you are looking for? With a web ring you don't need to worry. Web rings are set up my topic and content, so if you want to look up all the information you can on Underwater Basket Weaving, you can start with a site in the Underwater basket Weaving Ring and go until you run out of sites. Sites in a web ring will not provide an exhaustive list, but it is a good start.

What is the SBCRing or Southern Baptist Ring?

It is a web ring made up of sites that are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention of churches in one way or another. If you are looking for fellowship or just wanting to cruse around and see what you can find on Southern Baptist, then this is the place to start.

The SBC Web Ring was started in February of 1997 by Clear Creek Baptist Bible College student Mike Norton in hopes to make it possible for Southern Baptist churches, and ministries to have a common place to share resources and exposure to the net. At the time the only source for this was on the SBCNet section on CompuServe, which was difficult for many rural churches to access due to long distance charges. We started with just 7 sites at first and are now over 950 sites in the web ring.

Another fantastic ministry started to support Southern Baptist Life on line was the SBCRing E-mail list. This is an e-mail list of several hundred people who share with one another prayer concerns, questions about church, and yes even a debate or two. (Now, who would ever have thought that Southern Baptist could debate anything :))

Ongoing ministry is in the works. The SBCRing just recently acquired its own domain, sbcring.org. From this site the possibilities to share information is great. Soon we will be able to chat on the web using live chat, and bulletin board systems. We will also be able to share files and programs that can assist in the day-to-day walk with the Lord.

Above all else the SBCRing is here to serve the Lord and His people.
